Our Dojo
Aikido of London was established in 1994 by Ismail Hasan after 10 years training under the professional guidance of TK Chiba Sensei in San Diego , California. Ismail trained as an Uchi Deshi or a full time apprentice.
He has been teaching for over 30 years in Aikido and Iaido, Traditional Japanese sword art, and currently runs classes in Aikido, weapons and Iaido in Archway North London on a daily basis.
The dojo is supported by a great team of senior and assistant and teachers bringing considerable experience and energy to the classes. The dojo also runs annual seminars in London, Burton on Trent and Coruna and Badalona, Spain.

Mr Ismail Hasan
(Aikido, Iaido - Head coach)
Head teacher and director of Aikido of London. Ismail Hasan started Aikido in his teens and after intensive training by world renown Aikido master TK Chiba, he continues to teach in North London.
Mr Ivan Melo
(Aikido - Senior teacher)
Ivan Melo started practising Aikido in Brazil in 1998. After training briefly under Reishin Kawai Shihan, Ivan joined the Senshin dojo where he acted as head deshi and assistant instructor under Ricardo Leite, Clauber Scarparo and Tharso Vieira Senseis’s instruction. Over the years, he attended many international seminars of internationally renowned masters such as Yoshitmitsu Yamada, Nobuyoshi Tamura, Donovan Waite, Christian Tissier, Yahe Solomon, George Lyons, Peter Bernath and others. As an enthusiast of martial arts Ivan has trained Kung Fu, Judo and Boxing. In London since 2011, Ivan is a professional guitarist and continues his training in Aikido and Iaido under the supervision of Ismail Hasan sensei. Ivan attained his 3rd dan in Aikido in 2016 and Iaido 1st Dan in Iaido in 2018. In 2019 he trained full time at the Aikikai Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
